AB> Excellent point, one that slipped my mind entirely. My old points

I had something closely related to this happen to me with my Chevy, to make
a long story short the camshaft timing gear had been replaced with a
"fiber-gear" replacment and it had finally worn down. The timing went out
so often that I had to pull over and time it by ear every time I went
somewhere or it was gutless.
