Hi All,
Nobody will be shocked when remarking that for project management MAKE
files are very usefull. Using WATCOMs Fortran (4OS/2) I'm stuck to WMAKE.
Under DOS (Microsofts MAKE) I used the following trick to update the linker
response file:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
OPTS=/c /l=os2v2 /4
main.obj: main.for
wfl386 $(OPTS) main
sub1.obj: sub1.for
wfl386 $(OPTS) sub1
etc. untill subn
main.res: main.mak
linker commands >> main.res
etc.
main.exe: main.obj sub1.obj etc. until subn.obj
wlink {at}main.res
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Unfortunately this DOS trick does not work with Watcoms WMAKE, Borlands
MAKE nor IBM's NMAKE. By placing the .exe statement in front of the .obj
statements, it works, however the response file is never updated. Linking
fails since the .res file does not exist. If the .res part is placed in
front of the .exe statement, the .res file is created, however nothing is
compiled nor linked.
Has anyone got a clue to solve this problem?
