BL> That's pretty silly! Zmodem only works on a single day, or it

 PE> A single day?

 BL> renames the file.

PE> You presumably have heard of zmodem crash-recovery.

Yair... I have, Have you? Zmodem crash is usually set on date at
the receiver end, so that if the file has the same date but a
different size, it picks up where it left off. On the next day, it
assumes the file has been updated and renames it, if it has the same
name. Otherwise, every time I downloaded your FILES file, it would
just get added on the end of the one I've already got.

BL> why not just give us an hour and have done with it?

PE> The expectation is that you pick up a bit at a time with your
PE> daily poll, until you've got the lot.

Nice theory, pity about the reality...

PE> And even if you don't, you still have to call back, which means
PE> that someone else who is trying to connect gets a chance.

I can see the sense in that. At least it breaks up the hour into
20-min slices... assuming that the bastard doing the download gives
enough window for someone else to jump in. This was the point I was
making: it relies on the caller not being a bastard, and if he is a
bastard, he can clog up the system for an hour (or whatever) anyway.

PE> TML's purpose is not the distribution of 6 meg files.

Fair enough... so why let us upload 6 meg? I'm not criticising your
policy, just the lack of logic in it.

Regards,
Bob
