It would be a shame if you were to have missed the thread that recently
appeared here, with subjects like "real-time" as you have used.  Check
back quickly through the messages on your BBS and you should be able to
pick up a lot of background information for your question.

By the way, the verdict is that OS/2 is wonderful for "soft" real-time
tasks but can quite cut the mustard for really "hard" real-time
applications.  Since there's a large gray area in between, you'll have
to do a lot of legwork to figure out whether it's suitable for your own
needs.  Why not read those messages, if they're still there, and then
post some more information about the requirements of your applications.

By the way, there are quite a few companies doing monitoring and control
but not many people know about that area and there are only one or two
in this conference (who don't just lurk, anyway :).
