That's sort of good advice. If the dealer operates a retail storefront,
by all means visit them. If they operate a telemarketing office, then
phone them. But if you want good information from the people at a retail
store DO NOT PHONE THEM FOR IT. The people working at retail stores have
to wait on the people who show up in person. They usually can't take
time away from real customers to deal with the people who choose to let
their fingers do the walking. Since the retail sales people have to give
top priority to people who are in the store in person, you might not get
complete answers with all the information you need. You'll often end up
with a quick answer just to get you off the phone so the saleperson can
get back to earning commissions.
I know, life would be a lot better if you could phone retail stores for
information to save yourself a trip. Sadly, the people who run stores
seldom keep enough people on staff to handle both real customers and
phone inquiries.
