Hello KEN. 14 Sep 04 11:17, you wrote to all: KH> Has anyone done 8-bit file transfers via the PC's parallel port? yes. Indeed, will it be usable, at all? that's looks like a 4-bit cable. check the documentation for whatever software you're planning to use. the documentation usually describes which sort of cable you should use. The interlink documentation describes a 4 bit cable that seems compatible with most software, (but I never could get PLIP working under linux) KH> Ken (who does realize that there are faster ways to transfer files KH> ) if you can get the machines close enough to use a parallel cable it's often easier, and much, much, faster to plug both hard drive ribbon cables into one machine. :) Jasen --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.4.7* Origin: (3:640/1042) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 640/1042 531 954 774/605 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
