subject: Side effect of the .ANI patch

From: mike

Ever since I installed the patch for the .ANI exploit on my Windows 2000
PC, one of the programs I use has been putting up an odd error message.

http://www.xxcopy.com

I've been using xxcopy to back up my disk. I didn't have any problems
with it until I installed the patch this week. To double check I removed
the patch, and xxcopy worked properly again.

Now that I put the patch back in, I get the odd program behavior.

Windows 2000, SP4, fully up to date with Windows Update.

I now see this message from xxcopy whenever I run the program:

This version of XXCOPY has never been tested
in the current Operating System environment.
You should acquire the latest version of XXCOPY
from the XXCOPY web site (http://www.xxcopy.com).

Run this program at your own risk.

Press any key except within 2 minutes to continue.
Otherwise, the program will terminate automatically.

Never saw that message before I installed the .ANI patch.

I am going to try it on the other Windows 2000 system I have.

 /m
