I'm afraid "short" and "CRT" is a contradictio in terminis.

Trinitron types 17 inch have lesser a lenght than they had 4 years ago. 
Believe me, a aperture grill .24 17 inch really is the ultimate. But you 
better pay a few bucks more for a copy of a well know brand, Sony, CTX, 
Philips, Samsung ... . Of course, we can presume you are already aware 
about that.
Why not have a visit and search at some local shops?
