VM>In this particular case, GR had more than enough
VM>opportunity to do what he said he was gonna do.
Ugh, yeah, well, if we actually go so far as to say that GR was
often an egomaniacal bastard and that he didn't write very well on the
whole, then it's bound to start a controversy on the TREK sub.
Besides. I just can't bring myself to believe that the guy had NO
redeeming values, despite some pretty bad stories coming out.
VM>Without getting specific myself, I'll just say that the american public is
VM>getting as much credit from the media as it's due. I think
VM>the public at large is a lot more accepting of things
VM>outside of "more of the same" than is generally believed.
VM>I, for one, am getting tired of being "talked down to" by
VM>the media.
You and me both.
VM>I think that B5 is, in the long run, going to responsible
VM>for a new standard of story-telling on American television.
VM> And for the better, too.

Optimist. I hope that the Trek folks take their clue and learn
from the competition there. It could only help. But the TeeVee
industry has been feeding us pap like "Baywatch" for a long time. And
it works for them. Go figure.
I don't watch TeeVee much myself, but I figure that I am in a
minority of people who feel that "the story's the thing." Listen to
the people here on the Trek sub who say: "Kill them all and let Q sort
them out!" or some variation of "aim, maim and kill"
It seems like the folks at Voyager listened more to them than to
me.
