My call is that, in the second example, you pass a pointer to the
character that you want to put. In the first example you are
passing a character by value. the CHARMSG macro actually returns a
USHORT (not a char). I would guess that you have the warning level
a little low, so you are missing that the character (a la a
USHORT) is getting cast to a pointer to a character by the call to
PutChar().
