I was looking at Tomart's Action Figure News (available at Tower Books,
bottom shelf of first section of magazines) and on the front cover was a full
cover shot of the new Borg Queen action figure.
I read the accompanying article about the figure, and it turns out it's part
of a new line of Star Trek figures coming out during the rest of this year.
The article said the Borg Queen will be available in September, and it is
going to be strictly limited to 5000 pieces. The cost will be about $60.00
for this figure, according to the magazine article. I think it's going to be
part of Playmates 9-inch figure line.
Only 5000 pieces to satisfy world demand means that the price on this figure
is bound to shoot WAY up, real fast, once it comes out. It will be a lot
like some of the other limited figures from last year, like the Barkley or
Tasha Yar 5-inch figures - which now both fetch prices into the mid-hundreds,
or like the Kirk and Spock figures from "A Piece of the Action" that came out
earlier this year as a KB-Toys exclusive, limited to 5000 pieces per figure,
and which now go for around $125.00 to $250.00 depending on where you go to
get them.
Just thought you might want to know about this.
