That behavior is what makes the BIOS in the GA-8IPE1000 Pro so nice,
since that very process allows the motherboard BIOS to select from among
all IDE and SCSI disks which to boot. IOW, all can be intermingled; no
longer must all SCSI or all IDE as groups be before or after; no longer
is it necessary to use the SCSI configuration program to select the SCSI
boot disk.
