There has already been considerable debate on acbl and I believe that it
is time that all of those interested have a clear account of the current
status of Oral Miller as our Executive Director.  For a variety of reasons
Oral resigned as Executive Director.  His resignation cannot take effect
till September 1st at the earliest.  We will very shortly be starting a
national search for Mr. Miller's successor.  This will not be easy and
Oral Miller will be a part of the search process.  It is our intention
that Oral Miller stay on as Executive Director till forty-five days after
the new director is hired.
The decision to have Oral Miller end his  work as Executive Director is in
no way intended to end his involvement with ACB.  The Board approved an
initiative I proposed that will allow ACB to begin to develop more
presence in the fields of sports and recreation.  It is the Board's
intention to contract with Oral Miller to work for us in this area after
his tenure as Executive Director ends.
I want to make it clear to all on this list and to all members who may see
this posting that ACB is proud of Oral Miller who was a President of this
organization before he ever worked for us.  I am hopeful that he will
choose to seek a position on the board or as an officer once his
employment status allows him to do this.  ACB cannot afford to lose people
like Oral Miller and I sincerely hope that we will not.
