Sony had the patent of this type of monitor, patent that expired back in
1998. Meaning everybody now is entitled to fabricate that type.
"Trinitron" still is a protected trademark, thus other manufacturers
have to give their product another name. So you can look for Diamandtron
as well for instance.
In a nutshell, Trinitron type uses an "aperture grill" for managing the
electrons whereas the more commun types us a "shadow mask" (= sieve).
As a result colours etc... are more "filled", giving more body the the
screen.
Do have a Google search for "Trinitron + apaerture grill".
