During installation of a package which replaces files which are
open and cannot be closed while the system is active then a special
driver is used to do the replacement on the next reboot. The error
happens when the install didn't complete properly.
OS/2 uses the locked file device driver/executable pair,
ibmlanlk.sys & ibmlanlk.exe to make the installation and removes
the device commands from the config.sys when it's done. If your
config.sys has "C:\OS2\INSTALL\IBMLANLK.EXE
C:\OS2\INSTALL\IBMLANLK.LST" statement (usually at the top, or near
the top) then it did not finish properly. When it finishes
properly this statement is removed.
You can google ibmlanlk.exe for suggestions on how to correctly
resolve this problem.
You can check \os2\install\ibmlanlk.lst and if it is present, the
commands to install the files are in that list. You can boot to a
command prompt and replace them manually.
Check your os2\install\ibmlshst.log for clues about what might have
(or not have) happened.
Good luck,
jon
