Terry was hit by a Randy Johnson fastball for uttering:
TM> Yeah, when you depend on four guys for most of your offense, it's real
TM> easy to be streaky.
I don't know if it's really that. I mean, Lemke seems to find a way to come
up with a hit when it's needed but they still have the same problems that
they had since their first World Series and only Lemke is around from then
(There are others but they're not hitting in the 1,3,4 and 5 spot like they
were in 1991). It took a masterful pitching job by Glavine last year to keep
it from going 7. People say that pitching is 75% of the game and I think that
Atlanta has disproven that theory for several years now.
TM> hitting it out are very low. That was just stupid in that situation
TM> with two guys on and a three-run lead.
Why a guy would even give up on his best pitch is beyond me. Batters hit
mistakes and despite what you might see in those baseball movies, you rarely
see them turning 95+ fastballs into game winning home runs. Leyritz said that
he was looking for a fastball when he hit his home run but all he was hitting
was a mixture of oxygen and carbon monoxide when Wohlers threw heat. The only
time he got his bat on the ball was when Mark got cute.
