I had some of the details muddled when I replied to the original poster. Paraphrasing: when LLpro is started it tests the port and will fallback to 4 bit mode if it can't use the accelerated mode (8 bit). So there you go. I had confused "turbo" for "accelerated" and wrongly guessed the default was 4 bit mode. I never used LLpro often enough. BTW Cat5 is very fast but plugging in a drive is instantaneous!
