KP> They shave your chest. Wire you to a EKG machine. Put you on a
KP> tread mill. Then they keep raising the speed and incline of the
KP> tread mill until either your or they collapse.
BA> Did you have the one with the radioisotope too? That is a pain in the
BA> neck. While you are doing it they inject a gamma emitter into your
BA> vein and then they lay you on a platform for about a half hour to
BA> count it. You then have to come back the next day for them to take
 BA> more pictures.
No, they did a BE, though. That requires a two day fast with a diet of
laxatives. Then they pump your intestines full of their barium whatever and
you spend an hour on the X-ray table, bloated and needing to have a BM, while
they take umpteen jillion pictures of your intestines. Although there is
some comfort to learn that there isn't anything growing in there, I hope this
hasn't become a part of my annual checkup. For two days afterwords I passed
white turds.
Incidently there is an interesting article on Lance Armstrong's battle with
cancer in this months Bicycling. I think it was the first mention of this
there. What I didn't know is that about a month after the initial diagnosis
of testicular cancer that had spread into the adomen and lungs, it was found
to have spread to his brain and he has had brain surgery to remove that. In
spite of it all, he is still riding and did a "time trial" with Eddie Mercx
a few weeks after the brain surgery and seems to be responding very well to
chemotherapy.
