AV> 1. Is the Beaver hat still de riguer?
Yes.
AV> 2. For other levels, is the beret still acceptable. And if National
AV> ever gets their act together and decides on another hat, can it no
AV> longer be worn?
The Beret, effective 1 September, is no longer part of the uniform. The only
acceptablr headdress is the field hat, or the toque.
AV> 3. Is it going to be the navy Tilley-style hat or a baseball cap like
AV> the BSA uses?
It is a white Tilley hat, with a dark blue underside (to reduce glare), with
a blue band around the place where the brim meets the hat, with a Native
Canadian drawing of a Beaver.
AV> I'm at the point where I think I shall suggest that no headgear is
AV> required until such time as National makes a final decision.
Headdress is required because you cannot salute without headdress. The
Tilley-style field hat his worn all the time.
The official wotd in Ontario is that the beret is gone, and the firld-hat is
in.
