Hi TomLee,
Actually about 15-17 years back, the original micro-sized PC was
marketed as "The Brick", I remember seeing the advertisements in my
subscription copies of Byte Magazine.
Around the same time maybe a little earlier I got interested in
programming Intel's [Magnetic] Bubble Memory -which unfortunately was
relatively slow, in relation to DRAM [dynamic] and especially the very
much faster still Static RAM, that retained memory without any power
applied, which I guess is what eventually developed into flash memory,
as the same property applies there.
