Hello David!
DD> Try asking in these echos what people expect of a Bulletin Board Service.
DD> Very few would class my node as one.
Let me chime in as well.
A long time ago I had a CP/M system with CBBS installed. That was a bulletin
board. Unfortunately I could not afford a second POTS line, so it was
was not publickly accessable.
Later I had a DOS machine with Fido software developed by Tom Jennings.
That consisted of a BBS system and a mailer. either one or the other
could be active.
That system was superseded by Maximus BBS software and a Dutchie mailer,
so again a user accessable BBS.
I then switched to Linux, with Ifcico and Binkd as mailers and Fidogate.
This combination is only a MTA with no message store.
There is no access for users and nothing for them to read, this is
certainly not a BBS. If it were one in disguise, I could read messages there
myself, but even that is not possible.
