If there's anyone here, that still haven't hooked on to the MAKENL_NG echo,
but still wants to help, can you please, if you're running Linux, try out
if the package compiles at all, and if so, runs properly?

I've now put the entire package into the
http://felten.dyndns.org/MKNL_UPD.ZIP package, including makefiles that
should make it possible to issue 'make dos' or 'make Linux' -- only 'make'
should give you all alternatives.
The makefile.linux looks like sh*t, I know, I didn't have time to figure
out how to make Alex's suggestion work. And of course all files have CR,LF
rather than only LF after each line, and I also used a beautifier that
doesn't perform too well, sorry 'bout that.
But other than this, I hope this will get our Linux guys going a few
steps ahead. As I said, it *does* compile with GCC for DOS.
