REPORT: U-2 SPY PLANE FLIES OVER IRAQ
A U-2 spy plane flew again over Iraq skies Saturday "to carry
out provocation and espionage activities," the Iraqi news agency
reported. The plane is manned by a U.S. pilot and flown as part of
the United Nations arms inspection. Baghdad has threatened to shoot
down any spy planes, but has yet to take any action. The news agency
said the plane was flying at an altitude out of reach of Iraqi air
 defenses.

Back to normal at Minneapolis-St. Paul airport
     MINNEAPOLIS - November 30, 1997 7:53 p.m. EST -- Holiday travel
returned to normal at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on
Sunday, a day after fog forced Northwest Airlines to cancel 175
 flights.
The fog lifted overnight, and Northwest spokeswoman Kathy Peach
said operations were running smoothly by early Sunday afternoon.
Lines were even longer than usual Sunday morning on what's tra-
ditionally one of the busiest travel day of the year. But Peach said
virtually all of Northwest's stranded travelers had been sent on
 their way by the afternoon.
"We're in really good shape. ... We've been able to pretty much
fully recover from yesterday," she said.
Saturday's fog didn't close the airport, but it forced airport
officials to limit takeoffs and landings to about a third of the
normal pace. That had a ripple effect across the country, as the
 airport is Northwest's home base.

Disconnected wires on commuter jet being investigated
     CHICAGO -- November 30, 1997 8:59 p.m. EST -- Officials from
the FBI and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating
how wires became disconnected on a Chicago-bound commuter plane.
The United Express turbo-prop jet had arrived in Chicago from
South Bend, Indiana. The disconnected wires were discovered by a
mechanic during maintenance, according to Dennis Colluton, a
 Chicago airport spokesman.
"The FBI and the FAA are investigating how some wires in a
United Express flight came to be cut or otherwise tampered with.
It may well turn out it was accidental," said Colluton.
