  I lived like that for nearly 30 years, and you actually get more
privacy in a terrace than you do in a suburban block, which looks
into other houses from a range of 6 feet. A terrace only looks out
front and back. It's true that there are people all around you but you
spend more time inside.

  The thing I noticed most about moving to Concord suburbia from inner
city Newtown was the sense of emptiness; of space. Here, I can look
out 30 yards but in Newtown is was thirty feet. I'd live in a terrace
quite happily. The problem is that they are cold and drafty if they
face east-west.
