FWIW: i've been using time.nist.gov for eons... tcp protocol...

now, if i could just get time868 to serve up time sync requests using all
the other available methods, i'd be a lot happier camper... some of my
machines don't do TCP time syncs... others don't do SNTP time syncs... some
just look at me with that single unblinking eye like i'm st00pid for even
thinking to ask them to sync their clock to another system O:)
