RW> Wait a minute, Tom. Aren't you the one who is all for Zero

RW> After Zero Tolerance means enforcing all the laws all the time.
TR> I see that you still don't understand the term, "Zero
TR> Tolerance" in its use as a campaign term (i.e. a war term).
TR> I've tried to explain it in several different ways, but you
TR> don't appear to grasp the meaning or the use of the

TR> it to you, as you don't have a clue what it means or how/why
TR> it is used.
It seems to me that you are the one who don't
understand HOW it is used. I've seen it FIRST HAND.
Zero Tolerance (ZT) means just that ZERO, none, nada,
zilch tolerance for any violation of the rules.
You seem to want to apply ZT only to certain crimes or
areas. IOW, you don't want ZT, you want ZT in the
areas YOU think is good but want Some Tolerance (ST) in
other areas. Sorry but you can't have it both ways w/o
looking or being hypocritical or preadjust.
The msg I reponed to is a good example. You want ZT in
'high crime' areas and you want the police to enforce
all the laws. From dealing drugs to loitering to
littering to make it impossible for the criminals to
conduct business. But you think a cop in another area
should just walk by someone he KNOWS is breaking the
law.
I know what ZT means and why it is supposed to be a
good idea and how it supposed to be used. I also know
how it -=IS=- used in the real world once the genie is
out of the bottle.
Two examples:
The rules say no student may have "drugs" in their
possession. It doesn't matter if the "drugs" are 100
hits of LSD and a pound of cocaine or a single
marijuana seed or a metered dose inhalant (MDH)
prescribed by a MD and maybe necessary to prevent a
trip to the ER or even death. The student can not have
either on them or they will be expelled.
If the rules say no weapons allowed, defines a weapon
as a knife and anyone caught with a weapon will be
expelled. If you bring a butter knife in your lunch
box and the teacher sees it you are expelled, you're
gone, ada there, goodbye.
