| subject: | Bootable CD - application disc |
Hi All,
I updated my 8x4x32 Acer CD-RW today to an 52x24x52 ASUS CRW-5224A for
AU$67 {~US$50}. This had a 25 page English language section in the
usual, nicely produced, ASUS glossy manual - other 25 pages was in Chinese.
On the Product Introduction under Specifications|Application discs was
the following :
12cm or 8cm diameter, 1.2mm thick
CD-Audio, CD-ROM, CD-ROM/XA, CD-I,
Mixed Mode CD-ROM, Photo-CD,
CD-Extra, Video-CD, CD-Text, DVCD, CD-G,
Karaoke CD, I-Trax, and lastly *Bootable* CD
So I presume that unlike my 8x4x32 which would *never* boot from the
MCP1 installation CD, even using the "pause" trick, this one will?
OS/2 Warp is included under OS compatibility.
I didn't change a thing on the box it's now installed in, as I use the
lockcdr.flt, it just picked up the ID automagically, and now burns 6x as
fast as its predecessor on supplied 24x CD-RW, and also came with a
52x-CD-R, and Nero Express 5.5.10.4!
Also, under Recording form, along with DAO/TAO/SAO/Packet write/Overburn
there is also *DAO-RAW* mode.
I haven't come across this last term before. Anyone know just what it
is, before I go Googling?
TIA

Regards,
Mike
