Generally they use 12volt gel cells. Depends on the size of the UPS as to
the capacity of the batteries. I have a little 450VA UPS her at work that
uses a pair of 7Ah batteries. Our bigger UPS use bigger.

I purchased mine from an electronics wholesale type shop.
