Subject: Improper Kermit setup

Hi Sean,

Here is what i get when i check Kermit using Linux
and DOS clients, `Protocol.CTL' needs to be fixed:

___-----------------------------------------------
File: CP25SRC.ZIP
Size: 2968776 bytes (23194 Xmodem blocks)
Time: 9 minutes and 31 seconds (estimated)
Mode: Kermit

Begin your download now, or hit several times to cancel.

Transfer aborted.
___-----------------------------------------------

My interpretation follows. Simply put, the Kermit
protocol driver didn't appear to come on-line but,
if it did, no negotiation with its peer had enough
time to occur. This sounds like deja-vu to me, it
is an indication of one of these classic mistakes:

1) The port parameters are not passed properly
2) The protocol driver fails to load at all
3) The setup doesn't allow negociation to occur

Actually, here's why: the Kermit that I have is too old. It's a DOS
protocol that will only go up to 9600 baud. Here's from my logs:

# 08 Apr 16:30:41 MAX External program:
"Kermit.Exe -p10 -b19200 -t2 -mLOCAL.PRIVATE -fLOCAL.MISC -r50
Kermit02.Ctl"
: 08 Apr 16:30:44 MAX Return from:
"Kermit.Exe -p10 -b19200 -t2 -mLOCAL.PRIVATE -fLOCAL.MISC -r50
Kermit02.Ctl"
(1)
! 08 Apr 16:30:44 MAX Can't open "Kermit02.Log" (110)

There's more to it, but I didn't capture it. So, alas, Kermit isn't working
right (yet). If I can find some Pascal code for Kermit, I could write a
replacement. But most of it is in C (naturally), so I don't know if it will
work or not.

Later,
Sean

Hi Sean,

It looks pretty much like PC-Kermit to me, another
great classic!... CKO is a suitable driver, IMHO.

You have working links to it mentioned in MSK.INI!
