BL> Hume and Hovell were two of the early Australian explorers who
BL> discovered Canberra. Hume then shot Hovell and ran screaming
BL> all the way to Melbourne and never came back. They named the
BL> Hume Highway after Hovell, but the Hovell Highway sounded
BL> bloody silly, as if it had shacks all the way along it, so they
BL> named it the Three-bedroom Cottage Highway instead.

BL> Australian history is full of interesting stories like this.
BL> Tomorrow I'll tell you the true story of Eyre's Cock, and how
BL> the Great Randy Desert got its name.

DD> Keep up the medication Bob :-)

We are taught Australian History in Primary School, and it has been
censored. It stands to reason; the early explorers were out in the
bush for years at a time without sex. It must have played on their
minds terribly, and as a result, the names they gave to places had to
be censored.

It is said that Parramatta means "place of eels" in the aboriginal
dialect, but it actually means: "I'm so randy I could root an eel."
Similarly, Cabramatta becomes: "I'm so randy I could root a taxi."
Woolloomooloo translates as: "I could shag a sheep in a shithouse."
Alice Springs was originally known as Alice Roots Like a Rabbit.
Longreach was Bigdick. Hardly any uncensored names remain. Eyre's Cock
became Eyre's Rock, and now Ularu.

It was even worse for Captain Cook in a small boat for several
years. Sex was constantly on his mind. He named 47 separate mountains
as Mount Tit, 33 headlands as Point Nipple, and 52 harbours as Pussy
Bay. Jervis Bay was Jerkoff Bay and Mount Warning was always listed as
Mount Masturbation in the early charts, until censored by a clerk in
the Admiralty in 1813.

Woop! Woop! Woop! Time for pill!

Regards,
Bob
