| subject: | broken ON switch |
-> My monitor fell off of it's base in my daughter's trunk when
-> she shipped the monitor to me (140 mile trip) and I suspect
-> rolled on the screen back and forth over the ON/OFF switch.
-> Now it won't turn on. :-\
-> I took the case off and checked to see if the fuse was burned
-> out (somehow?) but it isn't. I'm guessing the front ON/OFF is
-> damaged.
-> It's an HP about 5 years old with AFAIK a micro switch that
-> 'signals' the power supply to turn ON/OFF.
-> Any suggestions as to how I can test my theory and/or get the
-> monitor to turn on?
IF the Switch had a click sound of a Two position Switch(Off/On)
and it only has two wires going to it just Short(Jumper together
somehow) those two wires and if there is no other damage the Monitor
should turn on. And since typicaly one plugs the monitor into a Plug
strip that is used to turn on and off the Computer system it will be
no problem having the "On/Off"{ switch "On" all the time.
