Hmmmm. That could well be misleading. To a printer, the source of the
downloaded fonts and printed data is largely irrelevant. DOS, OS/2,
DOS+Windows, or whatever, it doesn't care. To me, the above says that the
printer manufacturer has finally decided to not ship reams of specialised
printer drivers and downloadable fonts for DOS programs, such as WP/DOS, on a
floppy disc along with its printer (often one set of driver+font files per
DOS application, since there is no common standard).
I would expect OS/2 to be in the same situation as DOS+Windows is with this
printer, since, unlike DOS, with OS/2 the font files are standard (TrueType
or ATM) and one printer driver serves for all applications.
If you want to know whether there is a printer driver for the Okidata 4W,
check (in order) the Device Driver Pack CD-ROM that came with OS/2, the
Device Driver Pack OnLine on the World-Wide Web (the URL is in the OS/2
section of your Web Sites folder), and the printer manufacturer.
