-> Depends entirely on the efficiency of your rig. For many years aroun
-> here natural gas was the preferred fuel for air conditioners. Many
-> large industrial AC's use it still. Many of the older large
-> 'Plantation' type houses have a cute little Hercules fourbanger
-> flathead out in an equipment room, just gathering dust.
The only natural gas AC I've seen around here was at a mall. A
humongous Waukesha V8, probably 800-900 cubic inches, direct coupled
to a compressor. I've heard they may decommission those. Would
*love* to bid on that!
Hercules? Last one of those I worked on was a HX series. 6 cylinder
flathead, maybe 900+ cubic inch? Ran a 150kw generator for backup
power at a radio station. Probably 1947 vintage unit. Was replaced
by a Cat diesel 10 years ago.
