Some of the DPDT switches on a couple of my monitors have light feels and make no sound. There's a mechanism in some rocker switches and push button on off switches that can account for that feel. Somewhat experienced won't cut it here as your dealing with line level voltages. If the power leads route from the power jack to the switch that's clear. Mistakes can lead to anything from electricution, blown fuses, a pyrotechnic electrical display, hot chasis monitor. OTOH it could be a low voltage switch controls the power but it's not in my experience done this way nor do manufacturers add extras that add to the cost while adding nothing to functionality.
