| subject: | dying burner? |
Hello, Roy. -=> ROY J. TELLASON wrote to CHARLES ANGELICH <=- CA> I have to agree with "of doubtful value". I dunno much about dying burner drives, but FWIW I have a few boxesfull of "BAD" CD/ROM drives here, and the most common failures have been either failure to spin up, or failure of the tray eject/retract function. Gots to get past those two before worry about whether the drive will read/write or not. If those functions work, but it acts R/W flakey, I'd think the cleaning effort would be the next step. - - - JimH. ...
