We've a very sad case here last week involving just such an incident.
The student, a male, was participating in ROTC drills when he began to
experience an asthma attack.  The Sergeant Major refused to allow him to
stop and get his inhaler.  The student collapsed while marching.
The very tragic end of the story was that he died before EMT's arrived.
They say that he had an unknown heart condition and that that was what
got him, but I see some very dark days ahead for the Sergeant Major, the
ROTC program, and the city school system.
I know that this does not relate directly to the `zero tolerance'
thread, but I can see how the end result could be the same when applied
in the academic environment.
