subject: 95 audio CD problem

I also have an ESS1868 sound card on a machine... I don't have the blue
screen problem you reported... instead, an 16-bit sound doesn't play-- I
get scratchy noise instead for the length of the sound. 8-bit sounds work
fine.
On my laptop, with an ESS 688 card, the ESS drivers simply don't install--
even when using the settings that DO work w. Win95.
On the desktop machine, my ultimate solution is going to be to swap the
1868 card for a real Sound Blaster 16.
