I guess that we are all a bit proprietary about these things. I think it 
comes from experience. I don't know about everyone else here, but I have 
had too many helpful bystanders come up and be worse than useless. As a 
matter of fact, the only time that I remember them being really helpful 
was at a multicar MVA on the highway, where two EMTs from Montreal 
stopped before we got there, and had the patients all triaged out for 
us. It was interesting, because they both had their uniform jackets in 
the car and put them on so that we would know that they were not just 
wannabes. Confused the heck out of the FD, especially when I told them 
that we had called Montreal for mutual aid because we were so busy.
