        I am happy for you. But I do not intend crossing this fence. I
  do quite well now with the MS tools at hand.  Mind you, to populate
  three systems, I would not have paid the $xxx.xx three times over. I
  got a nice deal from friends.

        Do not feel alone. Even XP Pro and much ballyhood driver
 folder can not see my Motorola SM56. I got the driver d?led from
 their site,  Motorola's, it says that it has found the modem, runs
 the .inf on it and then barfs, saying that it will not work.  But does
 not say why.            Oh, well ! I am on cable here.
