The wood ashs from your fire pit will add excellant pot ash
(containing benifical potassium carbonate and/or potassium
hydroxide) most planting will enjoy.
I note most grasses,etc. have very poor health under pine and
oak trees so I would avoid them (unless I have an area I wish
to avoid growing vegatations.
