| subject: | DosCopy LPT1 |
I have the following interesting problem:
In a PM-application we created a thread that handles printing to a printer
that's connected to a printer-server. That thread checks every 10 minutes
to see if the printer-server is available, and uses the DosCopy command to
copy an ASCII text-file to LPT1 if it is.
That way the text always gets printed, even when the server is temporarily
down. The LPT1 is of course a network-alias to the printer-port on the
printer-server.
We develop on machines that have OS/2 2.11 and CM/2 installed.
On those machines everything works just fine.
But on other machines, which still use OS/2 2.1 and Communications Manager,
the DosCopy command seems to fail. It returns RC = 6, which is a return
parameter not described in the PM reference included with C SET ++.
The problem is not related to the C SET ++ compiler, I think, because
the DosCopy command works on the development machines.
If anyone knows the reason for this and/or a solution, I would be
very grateful...
Greeting, groetjes,
Peter.
