FO> I've never heard of or seen a battery operated cuckoo clock, but maybe
FO> there is such a clock. Good luck.
I have already found two. One is a cheap plastic one, made in China, that
plays a different electronic tune for each hour. It is a "Telesonic" quartz
clock. The cuckoo only looks left to right continuously, it does not come
out. I found it at a garage sale for $5, and with a little painting it does
not look as plastic as it did originally. Still, I would call this clock a
"cuckoo style" clock, not an actual cuckoo clock.
Anyways, I did not like the electronic tunes that much, but my mother
thought that clock was just the neatest thing, so I am going the mail it to
her as soon as the UPS srtike is over.
I was very lucky and actually found a battery powered real cuckoo clock,
made in Germany. A local clock shop owner had found it years ago and had set
it on a shelf. It was made in the 60's or 70's, and takes one "D" battery. It
has mechanical bellows for the "cuckoo" sound and a mechanical chime, all
just like the wind up ones. He is going to restore it for me and sell it with
a 6 month warranty for $100. I am really looking forward to getting it. I
really love that old clock sound.
