subject: dying burner?

-> WC> Well the spinal injury here has led to me destroying
-> WC> hardware out of impatience :-(

-> Old age has done much the same to me. That and I usually have
-> no 'bench' to put the machine on to work on it and must crawl
-> around on the floor. :-\
-> WC> I get on a roll and forget my time limit is about two hours
-> WC> a day before my stamina goes and with it goes my critical
-> WC> thinking ability :-(

-> IMO computers are not designed to be 'worked on' only used then
-> tossed away for a new one.

I'm getting close to that myself :-(

->My brother, who never married,
-> recently was having problems with his machine and I told him he
-> could sink $200 or so into parts/labor to have it fixed or just
-> buy a newer/faster machine. He opted to buy the newer/faster
-> then decided to fix the old one as well. Now he has two
-> machines. :-)

I see there's a HDTV card that will actually work in this
machine if I merely get an activeX capable sound card.
About the only way I'll be able to get HDTV considering costs.

I keep an eye on the classifieds for used computers.
Wish I could do the yard sale thing as friends have gotten
remarkable deals there.

Then too I could order a case, motherboard CPU combo
and go from there but that would be a while
off.

-> WC> I do have one last hard drive in the 486 but it has
-> WC> important files on it so I can't put it at risk by swapping
-> WC> it around.

-> I wouldn't take the chance either. Something goes wrong every
-> other time I start moving hardware around. :-\

 Never fried anything until the last few years but if I
exceed a very limited time engaged in moving stuff around
it's a near certainty I've come to acknowledge :-(
