-=> Mocking Paul Walker to Kurt Wismer <=-
KW> no, actually it was created by several members of eicar (makes sense,
KW> don't it?)...
PW> It does, except I wasn't aware that such an organisation existed...
i suspected there was, and then i did a web search on them at school and
found out some nifty things... like they have to pay for membership and
that sort of thing..
KW> eicar is something like caro except it's a lot more formalized and
KW> you have to pay dues and such and it's open to a larger member base
PW> Ah. Does this mean that Zvi is in it? :)
no, it means zvi might be allowed in it if he were able to swallow his
pride... but i think he wouldn't be able to claim that the av industry
was against him if he gained membership to eicar...
KW> probably a necessity... my guess is that there's at least one scanner
KW> out there that will refuse to scan non-executable files...
PW> Not currently, surely... well, you'd hope not, anyway.
you'd be surprised, i think... besides, one way or another they'd have
to choose a valid infection target type otherwise av developers would
have to change their scanner engines to deal with the test file and then
it wouldn't mean as much...
