Well Roy, I've got standby generators that start both ways.
1. Via the generator cranking the engine.
2. By way of a normal flywheel starter motor.
Of the two, the starter motor is the easier to live with but the dang
Battery is ALWAYS dead when you need it. So, you might just as well use
the generator cranking method and be prepared to BRING a battery when
you want to crank it.
I've not seen a generator cranking system that could crank a 350 Chevy
though. (And LORD how I hates magnetos!)
As much as I respect Craig's design theory, I think a 12v starter motor
and a electronic ignition system would be better.
