On (06 Sep 96) Dave Phillips Rambled On To Bo Lau...
DP> I recently did get some sinking food for my catfish and pleco, a

Store might have been starving it, by time bought, too late
  to save it.
DP> Another suggestion I had from someone is that Mr. Pleco died
DP> because of water hardness... I have yet to get a hardness test kit
DP> (the store I checked today didn't have them), but does this seem at

DP> Are plecos very sensitive to overly-hard water, which would kill
DP> them while the tetras and guppies and catfish all seem ok?
According to simon & schusters guide, which has graphs,
Environment: probably of running water (streams etc)
 temp according to species 64-79 F(18-26 C)
ph and water hardness: no special requirments
The ph scale has ph 6-7-8 shaded in.
Did you have the temp too high? like 84-88 F?
It is a type that likes high 70s to the low 80s
 (80-82 F) at highest.

... Don't bother me now, I'm digging up my 'ROOTS' !
