JR> I must admit that sometimes I do get a bit frustrated
JR> with those (managers in the system) who just tolerate the program
JR> with no active acknowledgement of its existence or achievements.
JR> I now put out a monthly report of the number of active volunteers
JR> each month, the number of volunteer hours expended and the amount
JR> of $$ it would have cost the dept. at time and one half if their
JR> tasks would have had to been done by a sworn officer. It should
JR> be interesting to see the responses from that...heheheh..
You are headed in the right direction. The best appreciation starts on the
street from the citizens and cops. Our Sentinels are dispatched for many
functions, and others serve in whatever manner they wish in the station. It
doesn't take long for field supervisors and shift commanders to depend on
citizen volunteers. It won't take long for the word to get around, and your
volunteers will be appreciated by all levels of management.
