I've had no luck with the SIO drivers on two desktops and a thinkpad.
The com.sys driver with ECS1.1 is terribly flawed in my opinion too,
unless there is some command line tweak to get it to go, I could never
get more than 600 bytes/sec. with it. I am using the com.sys from my
warp 4 dated 1998 to get about 4.5 kbytes/sec. on dialup.

I now have my desk computer as a gateway internet connection for my
home client network which works great. Only now on my wife's computer,
if the network is down (I am away and my computer is off) and she uses
the dialler (either ibm or injoy) there is a long pause before it will
access her local modem. Makes the modem look dead, it is not.
Apparently the client software locks out the modem until it times out.
