123a2fd76d6a tech Hello Wayne - --8<--cut CA>> I took the case off and checked to see if the fuse was CA>> burned out (somehow?) but it isn't. I'm guessing the front CA>> ON/OFF is damaged. WC> Obvious first thing to check. I thought so. :-) CA>> It's an HP about 5 years old with AFAIK a micro switch CA>> that 'signals' the power supply to turn ON/OFF. Mind you I've never even seen an H.P. monitor. I'm going by the sound and 'light' feel to the switch that it isn't managing higher voltages directly. CA>> Any suggestions as to how I can test my theory and/or get CA>> the monitor to turn on? CA>> fwiw: Doesn't have to be pretty as long as it works. WC> If there are two wires to the switch from power and two WC> leading out I'd say it's D.P.D.T. switch. WC> Solder a wire across the appropriate set terminals and use WC> a power strip to turn it on and off. WC> If you're not handy with electronics or familiar with power WC> line level voltages keep your hands outta there and perhaps WC> consult someone who is comfortable with line level voltage. WC> My opinion, YMMV. I bread boarded a few transistor circuits when I was younger and can manage a soldering iron. I could read transistor schematics and even spot the various sub assemblys at one time. I guess I'm not 'handy' but am experienced (somewhat). I will try adding a jumper to the switch. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
