BP> Wonderful front page story in the Oregonian this morning regarding the
BP> Nez Perce of Washington building a horse herd, taking them back to
BP> their historic riding days. They have also purchased land in Oregon in
BP> the area of their old grounds.
Also note the story about the wolves.
However, just in the interest of historical accuracy. The Nez Perce "group"
(those on the reservation in Idaho and the group that purchased the land in
Oregon) are NOT the Chief Joseph people that originally inhabited the land
that was recently purchased.
This is one of those "other guys" cases (or "treaty/non-treaty" or
"Christian/non-Christian"). Chief Joseph's people were sent to the Colville
reservation in Washington where Chief Joseph died in exile. There might
till
be some people that are _still_ upset about being "sold out".
